MISSIONS


Before Jesus ascends into heaven, he gives his disciples one last commandment: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20 ESV). We are saved from sin to a life of purpose. We are to proclaim the message of hope and salvation to a world that desperately needs to hear it.


We seek to know Jesus and make him known locally, nationally, and internationally by equipping our body of believers for the work of ministry and sending them on mission both individually and corporately.

As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we look to share what he has done and is doing in our lives with our family, friends, coworkers, and whomever else we come in contact with--our unique sphere of influence. 


We encourage all of our people to be involved in the mission of God right here in our community whether that is getting to know their neighbors, investing in a local school, or in connection with local non-profit organizations like Sav-A-Life, Tuscaloosa Angels, Tuscaloosa International Friends, Purchase with a Purpose, and others. 

God is gathering a people for his own possession from every tongue, tribe, and nation. He invites us as believers, his Church, to be a part of his grand plan of redemption both in our everyday spheres of influence and to the ends of the earth. We want to be a part of bringing the good news of Jesus to the nations. We see global missions as more than short-term tourism, but an opportunity for long-term partnership with missionaries and church planters around the world.


We send teams to support our long-term partners for weeks and months at a time and desire to send long-term laborers to places in need of a gospel presence.

CHURCH PLANTING

Church planting is another way we can corporately work together to foster gospel growth. A natural result of a maturing body of Christ is that it produces good fruit. As the church grows, it is important that we reproduce ourselves. We want to equip young leaders to lead gospel-centered churches in our community and across the world. We want to build growing and thriving biological and spiritual families that understand their role as believers: to know Jesus and make him known. One of the ways we are actively preparing to send people to plant churches from our body is through the Residency Program.

  • We love getting to partner with Tyler LaFoy and the rest of the Grace Table Church team to reach Mobile with the Gospel. They've planted in the heart of Midtown in partnership with the Acts 29 Network and the local baptist association. Grace Table Church exists to cultivate gospel communities that boast in Jesus in every neighborhood of Mobile for the glory of God and the good of our neighbors.

  • Clarkston is considered the most diverse square mile in the whole of the US with over 120 people groups and 60 languages represented. As a refugee resettlement city, there is much work to do to extend hospitality to those the Lord is sending just 3 hours from Tuscaloosa. In partnership with Clarkston International Bible Church and Send Relief, we hope to play our part in meeting both the physical and spiritual needs in Clarkston.

  • Just two hours from Budapest lies a city full of 6,000 international students from some of the hardest to reach places. God has providentially placed IMB missionaries and a faithful local church there to reach these students with the gospel and raise them up to be life-long laborers when they go back home. As those who live in a college town, we are excited to partner to help others reach their college campus with the gospel and help build up local believers through care, helpful trainings, and teams of gospel-sharers.
